Abstract

This study examines sectoral diversification in Uzbekistan’s regions and identifies priority directions for strengthening regional economic resilience. The empirical analysis uses preliminary gross regional product data for January–September 2025 published by the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Sectoral concentration and regional specialization were assessed using the Herfindahl–Hirschman Index (HHI) and the Location Quotient (LQ). The results show notable regional differences: industry has a particularly high share in Navoi Region, services predominate in Tashkent City, and agriculture is a major specialization in several regions. The scientific novelty lies in combining HHI and LQ within a unified “concentration–specialization” diagnostic framework to identify corresponding diversification directions.
