Abstract

The article examines foreign experience and methodological approaches to evaluating hotel business efficiency. It analyses the methodologies of international organisations (UN Tourism — TSA, WTTC — economic impact research, OECD, WEF — TTDI), international standards for evaluating and classifying hotels (USALI, Hotelstars Union, revenue management, STR benchmarking), and the experience of leading countries and regions (the United States, China, Europe, Türkiye, and the UAE). A comparative analysis of modern evaluation models — Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA), and the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) — is conducted, and ways of adapting them to the conditions of Uzbekistan’s hotel industry are substantiated. Uzbekistan’s 78th place among 119 countries in the TTDI 2024 ranking indicates the need to enhance the competitiveness of the sector.
